Weight & prevention · telehealth
For referring clinicians
Shahab Ahmed, DO, Internal Medicine Physician
Physician-led weight treatment with FDA-approved GLP-1 medication, as part of a written heart and cancer prevention plan. We focus only on weight and prevention — everything else stays with the patient's primary care and specialty care, including yours.
Who to refer
- Adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition
- Patients whose weight stands in the way — of surgery such as a joint replacement, of recovery and rehabilitation, or of mobility
- Obesity with sleep apnea, prediabetes, PCOS or fatty liver
- Adults at any weight who want a cardiovascular and cancer prevention review
What we do
- 60-minute video evaluation, then follow-up visits and secure messaging
- GLP-1 medications such as Zepbound or Wegovy when appropriate — FDA-approved only, never compounded — with titration, side effects managed by dose adjustment first (a short antiemetic bridge only if needed), and prior authorizations
- Labs only: lipids, ApoB, Lp(a), A1c, kidney and liver markers, plus PREVENT risk, calcium-score interpretation and a sleep apnea screen (STOP-BANG)
What you and the PCP receive
- Updates on weight progress and medication, if you'd like them
- A written prevention plan for the patient and their primary care doctor, updated twice a year
- Suggested next steps — a calcium scan, a sleep study, screenings — for the patient's own doctors to order as they see fit
What stays with existing care
- Your treatment — surgery, therapy, sleep care — stays with you
- Primary care, acute problems, routine refills, and blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes medication stay with the patient's PCP
- We order labs only — imaging, procedures and screenings stay with the patient's doctors
Eligibility
- Adults 18 and older, by video — licensed in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Tennessee
- Not able to see Medicare beneficiaries yet
- $250 initial assessment, then $100 a month. Medication and labs are billed by the pharmacy and lab to the patient or their insurance.
